Ken Summers

Ken Summers has been in the HVAC Industry since 1980, in residential service, in-home sales, and commercial design/build.

In 1994, he was introduced to Home & Duct Performance contracting through Retrotec Inc., a manufacturer of test instruments, where he was hired to run the HVAC division.

A growing need for more technical and sales training drove Ken to co-found Comfort Institute in 1998. For 21 years, through Comfort Institute, he trained progressive HVAC contractors to adopt "Whole House and Air Distribution Diagnostics and Repair”.

In addition to providing test instruments such as blower doors, duct testers, flow hoods and smoke puffers, Ken trained on the most effective ways to solve difficult comfort, dust, IAQ, and high utility bill problems. Proper sizing is the foundation of an effective home comfort system.

Ken also specializes in helping contractors across the country avoid common load calculation and duct design mistakes, duct leakage problems, thermal envelope repair, and mold-related issues.

Ken is a Senior Trainer at Aeroseal, which acquired Comfort Institute. Ken has written articles for The NEWS magazine, and he has spoken at ACCA, PHCC, RSES, NADCA and EPA sponsored functions.
